It is the saddest news that we got yesterday. Great artist and our friend passed away. He was only 47. I don`t have any details but the thing is - he is no more! Farewell Nicholas Simmons. You will be loved and remembered by many friends and art lovers!

ReplyDeleteFairwell dear friend & mentor.
ReplyDeleteI never met him in person but we facebook messaged many times. He was a funny person and a great artist. I hope his wife and daughter well.
ReplyDeleteSo very sad to have lost this amazingly talented man. He was an inspirational watercolorist and a huge loss to the art world.
ReplyDeleteNick was the one who convinced me I was a talented painter. He is the main reason I did a successful show in the arts precinct of this city.
ReplyDeleteHe is the main reason I nearly got to Shang-Hai.
He is the one who introduced me to Carol Carter.
We corresponded a lot. He was a mate. A mate.
God Bless you Nick. I love you, mate.
Joel.

How tragic that this great watercolour artist is gone. R.I.P.
ReplyDeleteA tragedy. Nick was a friend to all who put their hand out to him. The lilly is my favorite painting of Nick's--I always told him that was his pinnacle. I saw the painting of OLGA in the watercolor competition and was captivated by the color balance and intensity shifts that can only be seen in real life. Rest in peace, Nick, Damn ! you were a fine man
ReplyDeletei was at same school as this man, grew up in same town, shared friends but never really knew him but am so completely enthralled in the layers of beauty left in his paintings. peace and comfort to his friends and family. let us relish and cherish the beauty left to us
ReplyDeleteThank you so much my friends! Nick`s family probably need our support. Here is the fundrising page https://www.facebook.com/shysart/posts/906811396040290
ReplyDeleteSo sad. I found an email from Nicholas simmons today. He wrote it to me in 2009 with the following message:
ReplyDelete"Build up you self esteem to the level that might seem unwarranted. This will help you ignore both positive and negative responses to your paintings. Both are usually misguided, since they come from the outside. Be your most severe and devastating critic, while never doubting that you are the best thing since sliced bread."
Such a loss to the art world. His paintings took watercolors to a whole new dimension. I took up painting after seeing some of his works. Of course the greatest grief is for his family.
ReplyDeleteWe will miss him
Everything was going so well! Why did he commit suicide? We will never know.
